“SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS”

 Hours: 8 a.m. – 12 midnight,  7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Here are a couple of questions you may be asked:

  1. Are you in any pain? If so, is the pain constant or triggered by certain actions (pressure etc.)?
  2. Are you experiencing sensitivity? Is the sensitivity you are experiencing in response to hot/cold?
  3. Is there any noticeable swelling of your gums?
  4. Is the discomfort general or localized to a specific tooth? If so, which one?

In the meantime, before your appointment try the following to alleviate any pain or prevent further damage to your teeth:

 For toothache or sore gums:

  • Take over the counter anti-inflammatory painkillers such as ibuprofen, acetyl salicylic acid or acetaminophen to alleviate pain and reduce swelling
  • Apply a cold compress with ice to the tooth or outside the cheek
  • Apply a numbing oral gel to the gum area
  • Clean your mouth thoroughly- sometimes toothaches can be caused by food lodged between the teeth
  • Rinse with sea salt water or vinegar several times a day to rid your mouth of possible infection
  • Rub clove oil on the tooth, this is thought to alleviate tooth pain

Broken or dislodged teeth or crowns:

  • Keep any pieces that fall out!

If your whole tooth falls or gets knocked out, keep it. Try not to handle it too much. If needed rinse it gently. Try to re-insert to the tooth into the socket, if this does not work, transport the tooth in saline soaked gauze or in a small container of milk. Get to a dentist ASAP, as they may be able to save the tooth.

Apply gauze to stop any bleeding

Use paraffin wax or sugarless gum to temporarily cover jagged edges until you get to a dentist
